Electrical problem
1989 Honda Prelude 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 155K miles

I just replaced the alternator with a rebuilt one. The system appears to be charging, but the battery light comes on over 1700 rpm. The battery was tested and outcome was "highly recommended" to replace. Is this a problem with the new rebuilt alternator or the battery?

Hi Otterageous,

Should be a problem with the alternator. When battery is bad, the charging indicator light is not affected.
