The car could be running fine, but when the check engine light comes on, it would stop taking the gas. I put a new fuel pump and filters on it. What other parts can I check out that would keep it from taking the gas?

Did you count the blinks on the ECM window with ignition switch turned on?

Check for a faulty main relay.
