Honda pasport 1997, 3.2 cylinder and mileage is 133,000. It had the check engine light on for quite some time so I took the car for a diagnosis and was told I needed a new catalytic converter, EGR Valve and new front inner and outer wheel bearings and these were to purposely stop the car from shaking back and forth and the brake peddle to stop shaking too. I then took it for a tune up and had the oil changed, engine flushed, the system cleaned up etc, and the check engine light went off but then lit up the next day. The mechanic who normally fixes my truck told me I need new rotors instead of new inner and outer wheel bearings to stop the car friom shaking. Is he right? And he also says if my car is not making noises and runs good then I don't need to replace the catalyitc converter and the EGR Valve. Is he right? Thanks.

Hi there,

Machine or replace the rotors will fix the brake pulsation problem, as for the Cat and the EGR valve, Depending on what the results are form an exhaust gas analysis, that would guide your mechanic as what to do.
