My honda passport will not start unless you pump the gas or hold it down while starting , once it is started it reves by itself for a few secounds then turns to normal, now just recently the "check engine" light turned on. What can i do to make it start normally?

It could be bunch of thinks (vacuum leak-- over due for a tune up --idle air--TPS--low coolant--…) but I will start with the check engine light first

Have the truck scanned for code s that will direct you to the trouble area

Good luck
