2000 Honda Passport 11000 miles

We recently put a new motor in the passport and now the transmission will not switch out of first gear. It will go into reverse, and into first with no skipping but will not shift into the higher gears. Someone told my husband that it was probably the neutral safety switch gone bad. I've researched online, but I am wondering if a bad neutral switch would cause these problems before we buy one to replace it.

Hi adj102,

Get a free scan done at Autozone and let me know the exact trouble codes if any found.

The PNP should not be the cause of the problem. More likely to be bad/disconnected sensors or solenoids.
