My Passport won't start every time... it's hit and miss... how do you tell if it is the starter or alternator?

Hi 5th Letter,

What do you mean hit and miss?

It cranks but does not fire?

It clicks but does not crank?

Should not be the alternator it the battery is ok.

By hit and miss, I mean it use to start after a little bit, but now it wont start at all. Everything comes on in the car, radio and headlight etc.-wise, but the car doesn't start.

Hi 5th Letter,

I still don't know if the engine cranks and don't fire or it won't crank at all.
