I have a 2003 Honda CRV but this is a basic question about rotors. I had new rotors installed 5 days ago. They already have rust on them. The repair shop told me they would start to rust after the first rain because they are unfinished metal. It rained. Is rusting in 5 days normal?

Hi there,

This should not be a problem, if there is a bit of surface rust showing on new rotors. You will find that after a short while, once the brake have been cycled (hot & cold) they will become seasoned and will become less prone to short term surface rust, This surface rust will go after a few normal brake applications.
