I have a 1998 Acura 3.0 CL with 90,000 miles. WIthin the past month my car has started to shut off on me while I'm driving. I don't believe that it is due to any type of problem with the engine, it seemes to be more of an electrical issue. When it shuts off there seems to be some kind of a power surge, my winsheild wipers will shut off, and my key light on the dash lights up like I just shut off the car. I took it to a local mechanic, last week and he told me that it was my alternator, I changed that yesterday, and it shut off on me again today. I do know that I need my throttle body replaced my car idles at 1.5 RPM's while in park, that has been diagnosed by an Acura dealer. I'm not sure if these problems are linked, please help! Thank you, MAtt

I agree that it is an electrical problem. Where did you get the alternator? Do you get any check engine light activity? I would find the throttle body and get that problem fixed.

I bought the alternator new at an auto parts store. The other alternator was pushing out 16 volts, so I was told the car was turning off because it was an overlaod to the car. Is it possible some wiring has gone bad? I'm planning on getting the throttle body fixed asap, it's a very expensive part. Thanks
