Hello, am really new here and searching everywhere for answers.I recently purchased a 1997 Acura RL with 136k mile on it. The facotry car alarm is going of for no reason. I disconnected the battery for 24 hours(neighbor recomended that) hoping that will fix it, problem is back and severe. Alarm goes off for minutes and minutes, (takes 5 or 10 seconds short breaks) and repeats again. My neighbours are pissed off at me because they cant sleep at night so do I. Alarm goes off at hot, cold and normal temps. Only TEMPORARY solution I found was by taking out FUSE for the horn which stops honking, but lights still flash. And this morning I couldnt start the car because lights were flashing up all night.I also replaced the remote battery, no luck:( if any of you guys can help me out or point me to the right direction, I would be thankful to you rest of my life and I will also make the donation, PLEASE HELP:( Thank you so much for your help in advance.

I am reading up on the alarm. But, as a stop gap, try leaving a trunk lid slightly up. The system is not supposed to arm itself if a door, hood or trunk is left open.

I am going to email you documentation on the system and things to look for.

My email is Bruce. Hunt@fhwa. Dot. Gov. Send me your email so I can forward you a pdf file. You will need adobe acrobat reader to view and print. Excellent materials and just what the Honda people have.

This is what the previous owner wrote to me when I asked him about the issue.

"The alarm only did that once about 2 years ago. It did it after a heavy rain so I am guessing it has something to do with moisture.

I don’t think I ever changed the battery on that car"
