Tailgate will not open

My 2006 Odyssey tailgate will not open. It IS NOT the automatic opening type that is on the Touring model.

My wife used it leaving the house and locked the car at Costco. When she came out the tail gate would not open.

Is there a way I can release it if door handle will not work?

It sounds like you may have lost a fuse or the power supply somehow lets start by checking the fuses
