My mechanic said my power steering fluid is a bit thick and recommends flushing it out. I've never heard of this. Is this just a ploy to get $$?

Hi WaltR,
There is no recommended maintenance or replacement for PSF but based on experience it does ned to be replaced if it is too old.
New oil will work better and helps prolong the life of the system components.
But your mileage is not very high for the power steering system.
