After reading forums on the Honda Odyssey's (1999-2004) they had some real issues with the transmission. The bands in the transmission gets hot and burns to the point where shavings plug things up internally. They had a class action lawsuit that pushed honda to give extended warranty's on these models for up to "I believe" 7years or 109K miles for replacement. My situation is the same as yours and I will be replacing the transmission with a used low mileage tranny that has at least the 6month warranty. The only bad thing is if the tranny goes bad, I will have to do the process over agian (just time I guess). I will let you know how it goes.
