Transmission problem
2001 Honda Odyssey 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

The car shifts very abruptly from first to second and is most noticeable after slowing down and then reaccelerating before coming to a complete stop. There are no OBD codes and the throttle position sensor reading on my scanner seems to smoothly follow actual pedal movement. Likewise the vehicle speed as read on the speedometer matches the speed read on my scanner. I jacked the front wheels off the ground and accelerated slowly until reaching 10 MPH when the tranny shifted into 2nd very abruptly. The down shift seems normal. Any ideas?

Hi Dale G,

The symptoms described could be caused by the following.
1. Shift solenoid valve C defective.
2. Foreign material in separator plate orifice.
3. 1st accumulator defective.
4. 1st check ball stuck.
5. 1st clutch defective.

Item 1 is external while all others are inside and require disassembling of trans to rectify.
