Had my engine light on and dealer said it coded for the Catalytic Converter. They said it would cost $1200 to replace. I'm wondering if it could be the oxygen sensor instead? When I mentioned replacing the CAT myself, they said after market parts will not function with the computer and the sensor will always stay on. Any advice on how to avoid spending $1200 like replacing something else or going somewhere else? Thanks.

Have codes read at most autoparts stores and post to this thread.
