Suddenly I'm getting zapped by static electricity when exiting the vehicle. What are the possible problems?

Static electricity can affect some poeple and not others. My wife always complains to me that she is being zapped while I do not have any problem even though we use the same vehicle and even when we are together.
From what I know, it could be the weather, your personal metabolism, the clothings (fabrics) you wear or the interior furnishing of the vehicle.
One way of overcoming this problem is to install a discharge strap so that the static electricity can be discharged to prevent you from getting shocked.
