Air conditioning stopped working. No cold air, fan blows hot air only. mechanic said high fan motor, not low fan, needs replacing in cooling assembly. Mechanic said he had to order entire assembly, but if I went to a junk yard and found the high fan motor he would put it on for me. Local salvage yard does not speak English, I don't really understand difference between high and low fan. Can you help?

Hi barbsaver,

There are 2 fans and are known as the radiator and condenser fan.

Your mechanic does not seem to understand the system well and is referring the radiator fan as the high fan. For the cooling system, the fans only work in one speed so there are no high fans.

If it is the right side fan, that would be the radiator fan. Right is derived from sitting in vehicle and looking forward.
