1999 Honda Del Sol engine trouble

I have a v-tech motor with a single overhead cam and i recently had to change my distributor. Well after i changed it my car will start and idle fine but if you push the gas it acts likr it is flooding out and white smoke will come out the exhaust but if you just pat the gas quickly the rpms will get to like 5000 can anyone please tell me my problem!!

Do you have the ability to set your engine on T.D.C. {Top Dead Center } ? I would do that & take dist. back out , make sure it's pointing to # 1 on the dist. cap & put dist. back in. The rotor has to be posistioned a little bit away from # 1 on cap , 'cause it will turn a little when you put it in due to the angle on the gears. Make sure it goes toward # 1 on cap when re-installing.
