My daughter brought her CRV in today because it shook around corners. She was told it could be the rear differential and she needs an oxygen converter? She was told it will be close to $2000 to repair. It is currently being flushed first to determine if that will help.

What causes a differential to break and why on such a new vehicle? The reason she bought the Honda was because of the supposed lack of extensive repair history?

First thing to look at, drain oil from rear end, any metal parts? If not, maybe it's a limited slip, and needs the friction modifier additive for limited slip differentials. 02 sensor? Maybe? Is the check engine light on? Codes scanned and came up with 02 code?
Odd for ANY 30,000 mile car to have these problems, unless someone drives it VERY hard! Is Daughter racing?

Came up with a Tech Bulliten. DO NOT REPLACE rear end, go to HONDA. It's a normal warranty item, give the service manager this refernce #. Good luck.
Tech Bulliten# 07-024, issued 04/20/2007 MOAN or GROAN from rear differential!
Probable cause, CONTAMINATION in rear differential oil!Corrective action, Replace

fluid with new fluid and Burnish clutches.(Drive short while making tight turns)
Dual pump fluid Part # 08200-9002, H/C 6512644 1.3 qurts per vehicle per

replacement. (2.6Quarts Total)
In Warrantee, normal warrantee applies!
