1998 Honda CRX Engine stalls while driving car.

1998 Honda CRX 4 cyl Automatic

Can a worn timing belt cause a engine stall during operation. This honda is stalling frequently while being driven and the mechanic is calling for a timing belt replacment to fix the problem.

Hi bulletbob,

Unless the timing belt is very loose or out of time, otherwise it is not going to affect driveability.

If the engine stall frequently only while slowing down or stopped, then it is the idling system that is at fault.
