Electrical problem
1990 Honda CRX 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual
----------------------------------------------------------------
so i have a 1990 crx with an engine swap to a b16a....it has problems with the engine right now.
these things happen often, seemingly at random. if i just started. if i have had it running for an hour. if it hasnt run in days. if i have run it every day.
these are the symptoms.
-wont idle at any particular speed revs high then drops very low around 500 rpm almost dies then keeps going.
while it does this there is a clicking noise coming from the dash and all of the lights in the car flicker as though they are about to go out.
-the ecu sometimes registers a problem but often doesnt, i cant get an error code out of its blinking because when it does blink the power is flickering and i cant tell if it skips one. at one point the light just stayed red for about 30 secs.
-sometimes the engine wont rev past 3k rpm and under 2k rpm it sputters and the whole car jerks because it stops producing power for a split second.

thats about the gist of my problems with this car. it ran great for 4 months and then this happened. the spark plugs have been replaced the wires to the spark plugs have also been replaced and my distributor is fine. it was in the electrical shop for 2 months and nothing was found out..im pretty desperate to have my car back. thanks

Hi Gavin101,

Your problem seems to ba a loose connectioon somewhere. Check all wire connections and the ignition switch for fault.
