1988 Honda CRX Need starter help!

1988 Honda CRX 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I need help with the starter out of my 88 Honda CRX SI. I took it out to replace it, go to stick the other in and the Damn thing fell apart into 2 pieces. The part that spins won't go back in cause of metal lock looking mechanisms in the bottom of the starter casing. How am I supposed to get these two pieces back together? Or is it toast?
