I have a 2001 honda crv with 135,000 miles manual shift, and I have never had any problems with my car, and I was overdue for a timing belt and water pump to be put on, so I thought I was doing the right thing and had the recommended maintenance and had those two items replaced, along with an oil change and differential oil change. When I picked up my car, I started it, and now a belt (I think it's the timing belt) squeals for about 1 second and then it stops. I also went through a car wash, and the belt squealed, and occasionally when I turn the a/c on, it may briefly squeal for about a second or two before it stops. I have never had squealing belts on my car until I had this service done, and I took it to the honda dealership and they don't seem to be too concerned about it, they looked at it and claimed it was the steering wheel belt that was loose and tightened it, but it still is making the same sound. Do I need to insist it's the timing belt they put on? Or does the timing belt need to get "broken in" for a few weeks? Am I being petty about a new noise on my car that I never had before?
