I took my CRV in for a service and was told it needed a CRV boot replaced. It's covered under warranty but someone told me that I should have the whole axel assembly replaced because the tear in the boot may have compromised the joint. Is this necessary?

Hello,

Honestly, I would have them replace the CV Axle. If the CV Boot has a split it is possible for dirt and contamenants to get into the CV Joint Grease and start to wear down the bearings.

You may have to fight a little with them since it is under warranty they usually like to do things the cheaper way.
