The other day the battery on my 2005 CRV died and a good Samaritan gave me a boost. Since then the power locks don't work. Most distressing to me is that the rear door light is always on. Was this caused by the battery dying that one time? My husband checked the fuses and claims they are ok. I think the car has only had one battery since 2005. He thinks I did something to the rear door which I did not. Please help! I planned to take it to the dealership on the weekend so the service dept can take a look at it. Hate being accused for something I know I did not do. The car does not seem to start up as fast as before and when I do manage to push the rear door in so my key remote works, the alarm does not sound as loud as it used to. Do you think the battery is to blame? The back door locks when I push it closed and the remote control works on my keys, otherwise if I don't push, the power locks don't work.

Hi kathiez,

The battery draining off could be due to the rear door light staying on. The battery seems to be on its way out as indicated by the symptoms.

The rear door seems to be out of adjustment resulting in the door light staying on. This can drain the battery causing it to be weak, so the battery could be ok, just drained.

This would indicate to the remote that a door is not fully closed and disable the remote functions.

Check the fuses for the power door lock not functioning.
