My catalytic converter has gone bad, I'm sure. The noises are a loud rattling when it is cold mostly. I have had it checked at the local Auto parts shop and was told it is the bank one O2 sensor. Should I replace the sensor untill I can afford a new catalytic converter or will it just go bad too?
I would like to know why my converter went out, the car has been well maintained. Is it just luck of the draw or is it possible that my plugs are fouled or some other cause I don't know about?

Thank you,

George Ferniany
