I just had my car repaired and there is a charge on my invoice for a Brake Hold Down Kit. What is that?

It's the wardware kit for the rear shoes, return springs and hold down clips for the shoes, they attach to the backing plate with a steel rod and a clip.

If the hold down kit is not secured properly, could that be causing a "thumping" sound as I come to a stop? The thumping only happens when I am applying my brakes and stopping and the sound comes from the rear tire. This was not happening before I had my back drums and shoes replaced. Thanks!

Take it back and have them check the new drums, one or both are out of round and should be machined, or replaced again!
