I have a 1995 Honda Civic DX 1.5L and I am replacing the halfshaft, but when I try to put the new halfshaft into the left front wheel hub, it doesn't go in through the grooves. I am trying to get the "outboard ring" of the halfshaft, into the spindle grooves on the front hub, but it won't go through will all my might. Is there a trick? I don't want to force it in, only to have it stuck.

I need to get the halfshaft outboard ring through the grooves, so that I can eventually put the spindle nut (axle nut) back on.

Still working on it I might suggest that you take the axle and try push it through from the outside to see if it fits or aligns properly. Put some grease on it to help it slide through. Make sure there are no burrs on the inside that are causing it to not allow it to enter the spline.
