my air conditioner will cut on and off and sometimes not work, but if i hit the fan unit under the passenger side dash close to the floor it will work what is wrong with it?

That is your blower motor. Either the motor is faulty or the connection is loose. It may also be that your blower motor resistor is faulty, as well.
