I just had my car serviced preparing for a long trip. They changed the oil, checked the fluids and supposedly rotated and balanced my tires.

When I took it in it would only shake slightly when I pressed the breaks but now it shakes when I get up to 58-60. It is almost uncontrollable. Please advised what it could be. Could the tire balance be the problem

It could be a tire balance problem, a steering problem, a brake system issue. If not sure you should get a second opinion.
