i have a 2006 civic, 16500 miles automatic.
I let a prospective buyer test drive the car.
They returned the car smoking and having to
pump the brakes to work. If the emergency brake was not disengaged would these symtoms be the same?

Hi tbear01907,

Yes, if the parking brakes were not disengaged, the brake fluid would heat up and brake fading would occur.

After the brakes cools down, the braking should be ok but you need to check the brake shoes/pads and fluid.
