2006 Honda Civic Black Transmission Fluid

40,000 MILES • 4 CYL • FWD • AUTOMATIC

Transmission fluid is black and I was told I need to drain it and replace it. I am thinking that at 40,000 KM that this shouldn't need to be done already and it doesn't even suggest it in my service manual. Is there another problem?

If it was me I'll best change it now -black color tranny fluid don't sound too good.-replace the fluid and the filter and go from there-
