AFTER A LONG TRIP I STARTED THE CAR THE NEXT MORNING AND HAD A SREATCHING BELT SORT OF NOISE. IT WENT AWAY AFTER RUNNING THE ENGINE FOR 10 MINUTES. WHILE I HAD BEEN DRIVING THE DAY BEFORE THE BATTERY LIGHT FLASHED OCCASIONALLY. I JUST HAD A NEW ALTERNATOR PUT IN 3 WEEKS AGO AND THEN IT HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN LAST WEEK. A NEW ALTERNATER BELT WAS ALSO PUT IN. THE SOUND DOES NOW SEEM TO HAPPEN WHEN I PUT THE AC ON OR THE DEFROST. IS IT MY AC COMPRESSOR?

it could be a bad compressor,

but i would be taking a long hard look at the new (probably remaned) alternator and how tight the belt is.

It could very well be your A/C belt loose or compressor seizing up. Especially if it does it when turn defrost on, because on that model the a/c comes on when you select defrost also, it clears windsheild quicker. Sray your a/c belt w/W.D.40, or belt dressing, see if noise goes away. If it does, maybe just need to tight'n belt. You can also spray W.D., or any penetrating oil on compressor fins on outside of pulley, never hurts to give it some lube & it quiets comp. some too. If you think you have comp. prob. , take off a/c belt, see if pulley turns. GOOD LUCK !
P.S. , Also ck. all idler pulleys for seize'n up & yes, make sure alt. job correct. Why they do it twice ?

WELL I TOOK IT INTO A HONDA DEALER TODAY BECAUSE THE RED BATTERY LIGHT WAS BLINKING A FEW TIMES. THEY SAID THE BELTS WERE LOOSE AND NOW BURNED UP A BIT AND THEY WERE NOT ADJUSTED PROPERLY AND THEY REPLACED THEM AND ADJUSTED THE BOLTS THAT WERE LOOSE.ALL WAS FINE UNTIL I DROVE TO WORK TONIGHT. THERE IS NO NOISE BUT THE BATTERY LIGHT FLASHED AGAIN A FEW TIMES. I JUST DO NOT KNOW WAHT TO DO.

what were you doing when the battery light flashed?

Or what was the car doing, should really be the question.

O.K., either the 2nd alternater bad or the only other problem I can think of is the possibility of a short or a bad ground making battery light wire power up when it should'nt & turn light on. If ilight not on all the time, whatever is causing it is an "Intermintent" problem. If I think of anything else, I let you know. If car goes back to shop, ask questions like what test or diognostic procedure did they use to come to any given result. Can you show me or explain what you did. Most of the time, if they are"poken & hope'n", you will pick it up in their answer when they start "stumbaling" or looking away from you dreamin up an answer. I wish I could be more help.
