2005 Honda Civic air conditioner does not work while standi

I have a 2005 honda civic ex with 83,000 miles on it. The air conditioner stopped working, I took it to a mechanic and the added freon. Now it works - but only while driving. When I stop it blows warm air. Also when I step on the gas it sounds like the vents blow more air out then when I'm not stepping on the gas. Do you know what my problem may be?
