2004 Honda Civic electronic odometer problem

My electronic / LED odometer flickers on and off, occasionally off for a day or so, then on and off again. Started about a year ago, becoming worse as time goes on. The mileage is still increasing when off. No one seems to have any experinece with this. All other gages, speedometer, etc. work fine.

Since odometer is still cumulating even when it is not showing means the problem is caused by a fault with the display. It should be a poor contact of the display connections.
