My 2003 honda civic started having this problem were I would press on the gas and nothing would happen. It felt like a problem shifting and it only happens around 15 mph and 40 mph, and it only seems to do it when the car is first turned on. After a min or so the car kicks in and starts shifting and driving with no problems. I took it to 2 different honda dealers and have had 2 new transmissions, a new electronic load detector, and oxygen censor. I've also replaced the compressor for my air conditioning and the problem continues. It's been 2 months and they will have no idea what is wrong with my car. Any ideas?

Hi hondacivic21,

Was the Throttle position sensor and O2 sensor tested? Either of these 2 items can cause the symptoms described.

The O2 sensor was replaced, but the throttle postion sensor probably has not been checked. The computer is not showing any problems with the car; which I think is the biggest problem. Honda doesn't know where to look at this point.

Check with them to see if they had monitored the TPS readings while in operations. Monitor other senaors as well. At times trouble code are not triggered though the sensors might be working out of specs because the PCM reads the signals as within specs but in reality they are at or just over the border.
