My transmission was slipping out of 5th gear and then the transmission completely broke. I took it and got it fixed and 5 days later it was slipping out of fifth gear again. I took it back to the place the technician put it on a lift and said this axle does not belong in this car. The guy from Maaco who put the axle in after I got into an accident called with the part number. They looked up the part number and it was an automatic axle in a manual transmission car. He told me because it is shorter the transmission fluid was coming out. I called Maaco and they said this would not cause this problem. As soon as he replaced the axle it completely stopped slipping out of fifth gear. Do you think the wrong axle would cause the transmission to break?

Hello,

Well as far as tranny fluid leaking out I am not totally sure but I don't think it would leak.

Now as far as the worng CV Axle yes it will cause damage but only to the Splines were the CV Axle go into the tranny, and that would be do to the axle not locking in place like it should. The tranny would have to come out and be torn down to replace the part, but wouldn't destroy the whole tranny.

Hope this helps.
