While driving on the freeway, after 1.5 hours, my radio went dead. A few seconds later the ABS light came on, then the seat belt light came on, then the brake light, then the engine llight, and then the entire dashboard went dead--all dials fell to zero at the same time. I continued to drive until the engine surged and then cut off. I pulled to the side of the freeway.

I called AAA and was about to have the car towed but I was out of town and didn't know where to go, so I tried the engine and it started up and I drove the car to my destination, although the check engine light stayed on.

This happened before, about a month ago. The first time the engine didn't cut off but everything else was the same. I took it to a Honda dealer and they inspected it and said that they couldn't find anything wrong. Any ideas what might be causing this??

Hi there,

start by seeing what code has been set when the check light came on, and have the alternator tested, check all earth terminals are clean and tight, often this type of problem can only be diagnosed when the fault is happening.
