2002 Honda Civic 4 cyl Automatic 56000 miles

On the way to work this morning I looked down to realize my speedometer said I was going 80 mph. The problem is I was in a 55 mph zone and there were cars passing me. I stopped at a Wendy's parking lot and as I put on the brake I noticed it would not drop below 20 mph. So I turned the engine off waited and started it back up but still the same problem. Any ideas?

Hi cvcjosh13,

The speedometer gauge assy has run out of calibration and you need to replace it.
