2002 Honda Civic engine light is on

MY self and my husband share our car and 3 days ago the check engine light came on and we are very worried about it. We have not had any problems with the car until now.I heard that the main cause of check engine lights comming on is the gas cap.

Could you please give me some ideas on what it could be? The car is still runnning fine.

Many things will cause the check engine light to come on
gas cap open is one of many
the only way to pin point the trouble area is to have it scanned

auto zone will do it for free
let me know the code
