2002 Honda Civic check engine light

The check engine light has been on for 5 days. When I start the car and press on the gas pedal it makes like a brushing sound noise and hardly wants to go. Eventually it does drive but a lot slower. I did notice that the coolant overflow was empty I addad water. I m afraid that either the head gasket is blowen or something to do with the manifold. Its a older car and I don't have money to really put in it if its something major. Please help? Single mother

Pressure check coolant system for leaks it may be as you think. Auto parts scan for free but not pressure check

To me it sounds like you have a clogged catalytic converter, here is a guide to help test mit to confirm the issue.
