2002 Honda Civic battery and connectors

I am trying to change the battery to my car. I also need to change the connectors. The negative is self explanatory but the positive is encased in plasic tubing and im not sure what to do? any idea?

The red rubber cap can be uncovered by pulling at the edges. It might have hardened over time so get a small screw driver to pry it upwards.
