how do I properly adjust the tension on the alternator and air conditioner belts?

Below the alternator and above the a/c compressor there is a tensioner you will see. At the end of the bolt, there is a wingnut. Tighten to tighten the belt and loosen to loosen the belt. You should also loosen both alternator bolts before doing so. This will make it a lot easier.
