2001 Honda Civic Transmission Change?

Will a 2000 Honda Civic transmission work in my 2001 model Hoda Civic?...My friend works @ a junk yard and can sell me a 2000 model transmission for a civic a lot cheaper than i can buy a 2001 transmission.

Both vehicles have different transmissions which are not interchangeable.

Guess you would have to bite the bullet.
