2001 Honda Civic Speedometer Not Working

My speedometer starts at about 55 when it should of course start at 0. It then moves up from there. Nothing new has changed in my car. However when I start the car, the maintanence light flashes for about 20 seconds.

What is the problem?
How do I fix it?
Can I just replace the part?
How much would this cost?

I can't remember when they started, but find out if you have P.C.M. controled speedo or a cable. It sounds like electric & may be a problem w/Computer. If it's cable, it could be broke or speed sensor faulty. Good Luck, let us know what you find out. As far as your maintenince light goes, it's a remineder for "Oil Change". There is a little knob {Black} sticking out of your instrument cover lens. I can't remember which one, you can try both. Push it in & hold, turn key "on", engine "off", {dash lights come on}, light will flash a couple times, then either stay on solid or go out. Turn key "off" then release knob, this will reset maintenence light untill next oil change due, it may be described as "Maintenence Interville" in the owners manual. I think it is programed for 7500 miles.
