Ok, Ive had the car for a year now in texas and put a grand total of 3k miles on it in the heat of summer, now I moved up to Arkansas and we all just had the cold front that cancelled school for 4 days.

When I finally went out to my car, the battery was COMPLETELY dead, I mean it didnt even beep at me when I put my keys in, no lights came on, DEAD. So I jumped the car and let it idle for a bit before making errands. The rest of the day worked fine

Today I went out again around the same time as yesterday and the battery was too weak, it still had some juice to peep at me but not quite start the car. Jumped it again and decided to check the battery.

As I was turning into the auto place my car just completely died, so I had to restart it to finish parking, set up an appointment came back an hour or so later and it did it again, same turn the car died, so I restarted it and parked, as I turned into parking the car died again.

The auto people said the battery was completely low but was still holding a good charge (good battery, just low).

Once it was charged I went into town, as I was leaving a store I made a strong right-hand turn and the car died again.

Tomorrow I plan on getting a complete ectric diagnosis, with loads on/off and turning.

My question - How is this all related, the turning isn't electrical so how does it coorilate with a dead battery...or does it?

your alternater charges your batteery as you run the engine when alternator stops working thhe engine will continue to run off the battery as the battery losses charge strange things may happen to your cars electruical system dim lights radio turns off etc...And yes turning is related to power deep into understanding engine function power steering puts the engine under strain which in turn causes it to work harder and your battery said i quit cause your alternator quit the other day

Yesterday I took the advice from here as well as others and got a new battery anyways and went to get the alternator tested.

The alternator test showed the voltage was excellent but the amps were real low 8-10, and it was steady good but would flash bad/marginal then back to good, the shop recommended I change the alternator out - so I did.

It drove well enough on the way home, but this morning - 14 hours later it would not start again.

I believe there has got to be a short somewhere or something has to be pulling on the battery over night. I am unsure of where to begin, this is an 01 LX (basic) edition with very little electronics (tape deck, door lights, a little light in the trunk, and one lighter dock)
