My gas cap release no longer works (although the trunk release works just fine). I'm about out of gas, and am looking for a way to get the lid open so I can put some gas in it and take it to get repaired.

Is there a way I can pop this door open without using the broken release lever ?

Also, is this something I can fix myself ?

Thanks for any help !

Remove the trim in the boot from the back of the fuel filler, you may be able to trigger the release from there, if no access to the release, remove the trim at the lower edge of the rear door behind the filler, the cable will run through there, you may be able to follow it to the lock to open it.

Mark,

Your advice was right on target. I also picked up a replacement cable assembly for about $60, and replaced it in about an hour.

Thanks
