Transmission problem
2000 Honda Civic 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 125*** miles

I was pulling out of the parking lot and all of a sudden my "Check Engine" light came on, no more than 10 seconds later my car felt shaky and then just all of a sudden died, i tried turning it back on, i could hear it trying, but wouldn't turn over. The dome lights, blinkers, and power windows all worked so i don't think its a battery issue, i checked the oil and it was pretty low, but i don't know if thats what would have caused it. its been showing no signs of problems until the "Check Engine" light came on.

Hi Austin Russell (USN),

When the CEL comes on, an error has been detected by the engine management system and you need to retrieve the trouble codes to find out what is wrong. A scanner would be required but if you do not have any, it can be done by bridging the DLC terminals # 4 and # 9.

First you would need to check what is missing.

Here is a link that would provide you with information on how to go about testing them.

Let me know if you require additional information.
