2000 Honda Civic water and soap in gas tank

2000 Honda Civic 70K miles

I left my gas cap off and the filler door open when I went to the gas station. Then I went through the automatic car wash. Will the water and soap cause engine damage? Can I safely drive the car 50 miles tonite?

Probably better safe than sorry, water will cause damage to the tank and fuel system, including the injectors.

You should drain the tank, remove the fuel filter, pour the contents into a clear container and if you see two liquids, one will be water.

Clean the tank, replace the filter and use a Heet or some other alchohol based additive.
