Hi, my name is Tony. My a/c went out about 3 months ago, I had a new compressor put in about 2 months ago. My a/c cools but not like it used to with the other compressor before it went out, I took it back and they said it was ok and it was the day's heat that was making it like that, I said it didnt used to do that, it used to cool all the time. The air comes out cool, not cold, and by the time it hits you, the air is warm. Ive noticed that the clutch that spins in the middle of the compressor, when the a/c is on, spins a little bit when the a/c is off, and it makes a little high pitched squeek, they said it would settle in in about 2 weeks, but it hasnt. My problem is, it doesnt cool like it used to. What should I do or what do u guyz think the problem is, so I can tell them, cause I spent alot of money on this and I wanna get my money's worth. Please help me. Thank You!

Hi toytony,

When AC is not cold, there are a few possibilities.

1. Overfilling or lack of gas.
2. Weak compressor.
3. Clogging in system.
4. Condenser cooling fins clogged, fan not working or weak.

You need to do some test to determine the possible cause.

Easiest way to test if AC is cold enough is to use thermometer to test air output from vent. Ask AC people to test and show you the results.
Pressure test could diagnose possible areas of fault.
