I am looking into buying this used Honda civic. I took it in to a mechanic for a diagnostic inspection, and they told me that the brake pads were at 50% but the rotors needed to be replaced (and would change the brake pads while they were at it). However, the car dealer also had it taken into a mechanic and he said that the brake pads were indeed at 50%, but the rotors are fine. Could in fact a discrepancy occur regarding the condition of the brake pads, or is the dealer just trying to get this car sold? Additionally, the manual says the timing belt needs to be changed at 100,000 miles (the car has 50,000) or at 7 years (it is 8 years old). Again, the dealer says not to worry about it because of the low mileage. Should I veer on the side of caution and have it changed to avoid engine trouble, or let it go until the mileage increases. Thank you so much!!!
